BROOKFIELDS CRICKET CLUB 28/10/08
I
was looking through some old bits and pieces that used to be my dads and found these (pictures attached), they are cap badges for Brookfields Cricket Club (B.C.C)
I can remember them being sewn onto the white cricket caps, notice the Brook and Fields depicted on the Badge. I remember the B.C.C home ground used to be Somerfield Park (up the back by City road entrance ), I also remember them playing at Lightwoods park and Handsworth park.
I also remember some meetings they held usually at one of the team members house , we had more than one meeting at our house (Joe Grinnell 8/125 Hingeston street) or my Granddads
(Old Joe Grinnell 3/111 Hingeston street ) also at another one of the members houses Len Weston was his name, the picture of the team I sent you shows all these as well as some others.
The last I heard of the B.C.C was about 1960 I remember playing for them (a couple of games at Handsworth park) when I was 12 yrs old that would be about 1959 - 60 don't know if they
are still going (I doubt it), I will let you know if I find or remember anything else.
